Individual and Family Counseling 

Short-term counseling is available to members, by appointment, for the purpose of helping to identify and implement coping strategies during the cancer journey. Up to six individual sessions are available for each member, with extended counseling available on a case-by-case basis. Counseling is provided by a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker. 


Support Groups

Registration Required

Multiple Myeloma Support Group

Meets the 2nd Thursday of the Month 10:00 am-11:30 am 

Montly support group for Myeloma survivors and caregivers provides an opportunity to get together for mutual support, education, sharing and friendship.

Caregivers Support Group 

Meets the 1st Monday of the Month from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm  
Being a caregiver can be both an honor and a challenge. This monthly support group provides caregivers the opportunity to share their journey with other caregivers.

Survivors Support Group 

Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the Month from 2:00 pm-3:30 pm 
One becomes a survivor the day of diagnosis. This group helps put the concept and reality of survivorship into perspective and offers tools for coping with the emotional and practical challenges of life with cancer and living cancer free.

Men’s Support Group 

Meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of the Month from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm 
Offers men who are experiencing cancer to connect with each other, normalize the challenges they face, and share strategies that work in meeting those challenges.

What's Next? 

Meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm  
A support group for individuals who have completed active treatment and wish to explore opportunities and share challenges in this new chapter of their lives.

KIDZ Coping 

Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm 
Monthly support group for children ages 6 to 12 whose siblings and parents/loved ones are dealing with cancer. A strength-based approach is used to help group members understand more about cancer, share personal concerns, and build resiliency. Music, art and movement activities are utilized to facilitate group discussion.

Follow Your Rainbow 

Meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month, 11:00 am-1:00 pm from September-May at Wellness House with occasional off-grounds activities. 
Monthly program that offers children age 6-12 the opportunity to have fun and feel connected with their peers experiencing similar family circumstances. Children will learn to understand and express their feelings while playing together and realizing it is OK to still be a kid and have fun while a parent or loved one is dealing with cancer.

Paint Your Rainbow Summer Camp 

This week-long, summer day camp program supports children age 6-12 who have a parent or loved one with cancer, learn to understand and express their feelings through art, music, exercise and friendship.  June 26 – June 30, 2017. 

Teens Offering Support

 Teens offering support is a program designed for teens who would like to give back to the community and volunteer as teen counselors for Wellness House children’s events.

Healing Touch Healing Touch uses gentle, light touch to clear, balance, energize, and support the human energy system to facilitate and support healing for the whole person.   By appointment.

Massage  Massage is offered to members with cancer and caregivers.  Licensed massage therapists use gentle techniques, adapted for individuals with all types of cancer and can help decrease nausea, fatigue and other stresses such as anxiety and depression.  By appointment.

Reiki  The Japanese relaxation technique of reiki, where energy is transferred from therapist to patient, complements conventional medical and therapeutic techniques is an excellent approach for balancing mind, body and spirit. By appointment. 

Yoga  Uses breathing techniques and gentle exercise to help maintain health and strength throughout treatment and beyond. All Yoga classes are facilitated by certified teachers with the special needs of our membership in mind. See web site calendar for schedule. 

Tai Chi  Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.

Meditation  Guided meditation and mindfulness groups meet monthly.

Educational Seminars An educational seminar series offered by dedicated professionals from the community with the goal of promoting healthy living and quality of life.  

Look Good Feel Better A program of the American Cancer Society coordinated by Wellness House which teaches beauty techniques for women in active treatment.

Healing Music Series Members join together and relax while enjoying live music and instruction in meditation, breath work or connection via the song circle.  

Nutrition Series  Seminars, workshops and cooking demonstrations help cancer patients and caregivers learn about the importance and healing properties of nutrition during their cancer journey.

Tea Time at Our House  A member-hosted weekly drop in tea time for fun and socializing held Occasional tea time special events include Song Circle with Bob Sima, mindful tea tasting, and show & tell for grownups.

Book Club  The Wellness House Book Club meets monthly and reads a variety of member-selected books.  

Therapeutic Art  Artistic expression has been proven to enhance physical, mental and emotional well-being.  This activity, led by local artists and jewelry makers provides a time, room and materials for members to be creative.  See web site calendar for dates / times.
