Programs and Services of the Wellness House of Annapolis
Wellness House of Annapolis provides the following programs and services for the individual diagnosed with cancer, and their families, children and caregivers.
Caregiver Support Group
This monthly support group, led by a certified and trained facilitator, provides spouses, adult children, and siblings of someone living with cancer the opportunity to share their journey with other caregivers.
(Includes corresponding parent program) – Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery –CLIMB is a unique eight-week-program designed specifically for children whose parent or loved one has cancer. CLIMB helps elementary-aged children deal with their fears, questions, and anxiety through weekly support groups and by meeting other children whose parent or loved one also has cancer.
Follow Your Rainbow
This monthly support group for elementary school aged children provides camaraderie, fun, support, adventure, an understanding and affirmation of feelings as these children experience their family coping with a cancer diagnosis.
Regardless of age or culture, humans find nature restorative. Any environment can promote healing, but gardens are particularly able to do so because humans are hard-wired to find nature engrossing and soothing. This is an independent group where individuals garden at their own convenience.
Music is a form of sensory stimulation, which provokes responses due to the familiarity, predictability, and feelings of security associated with it.
Healing Touch uses gentle, light or near-body touch to clear, balance, energize, and support the human energy system to facilitate and support healing for the whole person; mind, body, spirit.
Individual and Family Counseling
Counseling is available by appointment. Techniques include psychotherapeutic modalities of talk therapy, relaxation and guided imagery, as well as sand tray therapy to help patients of all ages process and cope with that, which is impeding psychological wholeness.
Keys to Wellness
An educational seminar series consisting of lectures and instruction on strategies for healthy living.
KIDZ Coping Together
This monthly support group provides understanding, support, education, and friendship for children in grades 6-8 who are experiencing cancer in the family.
Meditation for Relaxation
Learn the practice of meditation and eliminate heightened anxiety in a serene environment.
Oncology & Caregiver Massage
Oncology massage is a gentle technique adapted for individuals with all types of cancer and can help decrease nausea, fatigue and other stresses such as anxiety and depression.
Patient Support Group
In this bi-monthly support group led by a licensed clinical professional counselor, those diagnosed with cancer have an opportunity to connect with each other, normalize the challenges they are facing together, and share strategies that work in meeting those challenges.
the ancient Japanese relaxation technique of reiki complements conventional medical and therapeutic techniques and has been found to be an excellent approach for balancing mind, body and spirit.
Our yoga program uses breathing techniques and gentle exercise to help maintain health and strength throughout treatment and lifelong recovery.
This monthly support group provides a friendly, fun, supportive setting for young adults in grades 9-12 who have a loved one with cancer.
Artistic expression can improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well being of all individuals.
