2013 Annual Appeal:
Your Donation Directly Touches Lives

Dear Friends of
Wellness House,

On Oct 1, 2010, my husband Michael was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The news was devastating. I thought about our two young daughters, Reagan and Corinne, and wondered how this could happen to Mike and what would become of our precious family. When Mike did not respond to the chemotherapy, I was thrust into a new role: caregiver. I felt overwhelmed and unprepared to take on this huge responsibility and needed help. Thankfully, a social worker at Anne Arundel Medical Center suggested we visit Wellness House of Annapolis.

I walked into Wellness House and immediately felt a sense of peace. During the next several months, Reagan, Corinne, and I received counseling and support. We attended CLIMB where I learn how to speak to my daughters about their dad’s cancer and handle the emotions and stress I faced daily. My daughters learned how to cope with their own feelings and build friendships with other children in the same situation. Yoga and massage helped me rejuvenate myself and go on being a wife, mother, and caregiver.

Mike lost his battle with cancer on February 27, 2012. It was an incredibly painful and difficult time for my daughters and me. Wellness House pulled us through and continues to help us grow stronger every day.

I don’t know anyone who has not been touched by cancer. I do know that this year, the demand for the essential programs the Wellness House provides free of charge has doubled. I ask you to give what you can to Wellness House so they may continue their mission to serve cancer patients and their families in our community. Your donation will directly touch cancer patients and their loved ones and make a real difference in their lives.

Sincerely,

Tricia McGrath
